Jan 18th Update

The new studio is now up and running, we are up and running, everybody is happy and we have some 2013 scheduled events to announce. Winter Wonderfest in Japan is a go for Feb and we're definitely (and I mean DEFINITELY) appearing in France during May!

We're planning a retrospective at Daniel Maghen's esteemed gallery on and around Ash's birthday, which should be lots of fun. We are also aiming to do something a little special at that time for Lore fans, perhaps a limited edition toy or a print, we haven't decided which yet. We are going to mark the fact that the movie is almost underway and we still have a lot of love for the book. This only being a small part of the show, which is going to be excellent naturally.

And speaking of books, we're knee deep in manuscripts for not one but three separate projects Popbot# 9 (Yes it's happening right now), Beautiful War (Also happening but we're taking our sweet time) and a third as yet unannounced project (very sexy and tons of fun, I've been laughing my butt off at what we have planned).

The hope is to start putting up preview images sometime in the next month, so that everyone gets to join in the fun. Stay happy:)

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone, wherever you are and a special thank you our friends who helped move the studio this weekend, we couldn't have done it without you. Ash is still out for the count and resting his arm and shoulder after re-twinging his ulnar nerve but we've made good progress anyway.

At the top of this post is a photograph of a Starn Bros. work hanging in the studio. In the early ninties, Ash and I used to go for long walks everywhere and stop in at every bookshop along the way. One afternoon we found ourselves standing in the Fremantle Arts Bookshop staring at a Mike and Doug Starn book that we could not afford to buy and then we forgot all about that moment, until today... We feel so freaking lucky in retrospect to actually have an original hanging on the wall, it really put a finer point on how far we've come. We still haunt bookshops though...

Update 17th Dec

December is hurtling along and we're almost ready to fall over stupid for a two day break at Christmas.

Coming up: Charity Auctions start January (see today's ThreeA newsletter), we have three shows from December through February, (China, Thailand and Japan - in that order) and we have a new studio space to celebrate this week.

In the meantime stay safe everyone and Merry Christmas:)

Update 19 Nov

Whenever Christmas and the New Year approaches it never fails to light a fire under our backsides. Things start slowing down from mid November onwards. When you work with people in different countries all at once it goes a little something like this: Thanksgiving, USA (Happy thanksgiving by the way!). Christmas, New Year and then Chinese New Year, HK, PRC. So every year at right about now, we really haul butt to get things off and done by certain dates, otherwise boats are missed and things get held up. So here we are working, working really hard to get things done and dusted. And speaking of dusted...

In preparation for a special writing project associated with our work on The Beautiful War, I decided to edit a novella that I finished in the middle of this year, in between everything else. I can't see it ever being turned into a comic or a graphic novel, it came to me as a story and will probably remain that way, so I've decided that when it's 100% ready, maybe 2 weeks to a month - I'm going to put it up on Amazon.com for free!! When it's ready I'll post a link right here on this blog.
